Development is paused because Microsoft has black listed my code signing certificate.

I am trying to work out why and what to do next.

Please try forcing a rebuild:

In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Indexes tab on the left.
Click Force Rebuild.
Click OK.

Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:

/debug=0

Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
If successful, debug=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

Restart Everything (File -> Exit)

Thank you for your offer to help with translating Everything.

Everything 1.5 is not ready for translating.

It will be in the next alpha update.

This is currently a limitation with Everything.

Everything doesn't highlight when there are RTL characters.

Support for highlighting RTL characters is on my TODO list.

Include the following in your search:

Version 1391a should be:

The Everything Server supports the following:

A centralized database.
10+ million files.
Everything users permissions.

NTFS-permissions is on my TODO list for a future version of Everything.
For now, the Everything Server has accounts.
Each account can limit access to certain folders.

New tabs should be using your Tools -> Options -> Home settings.

Duplicate tab will inherit the current tab.

You can override these settings with the advanced new_tab_command_line setting:

This issue turned out to be a property handler blowing up the stack when passed a very long filename.

Enabling shell_max_path fixed the issue.

I will consider an option to automatically search content.

For now, there's a filename or content filter.

If there is an easy way to tell strange container-types to be treated a text it would reduce my time taken to locate program code.

Everything will treat the file as binary if there's no registered iFilter for LIB files.
Everything will search binary files as ANSI, UTF-8, UTF-16, UTF-16BE, UTF-16 ...

Everything tracks the run count by filename.

When a file is updated, most software will create a new filename, then rename over an existing file.
Tracking by file id would cause issues when updating files.

The date created column is not supported with the HTTP server.

Adding support for the date created column is on my TODO list.

The filters are applied in the following order:
Include only folders
Exclude folders
Include only files
Exclude files

I was unable to reproduce the issue with your settings and david instance.

Are you using the NO_ALPHA_INSTANCE file in the same location as your Everything.exe?
This will control the service pipe name.
With NO_ALPHA_INSTANCE:
\\.\PIPE ...

Admin: 1
Service: 2 (disconnected / installed and not running)

Running as administrator can cause issues.
Looks like something is stopping the Everything Service?

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:

I am unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 7/10 with a limited account.

When is the UAC prompt shown? (when you launch Everything? when you perform an action in Everything? is it only once or all the time?)

Please send your Help -> Troubleshooting information.

This is caused by database corruption.

Please try forcing a rebuild:

In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Indexes tab on the left.
Click Force Rebuild.
Click OK.

Maybe it's caused by running 1384.

Please make sure 1391 is installed correctly:

In Everything , from the Tools menu, click Options .
Click the General tab on the left.
Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything .
Uncheck Run as administrator .
Check Everything Service . (Please ...

avoid 1384, it has issues with the alpha instance.

Please try 1391 instead.

Sounds like Everything is in some sort of modal dialog or action.
ESC will cancel the modal dialog or action.

Please send a mini crash dump when Everything is showing the simple menu:

Opening volume handles can cause this issue when there is a lot of file cache for many files.

Searching for content in Everything can create a lot of file cache for many files.

Please try RAMMap from Microsoft.

Please try clearing your standby list:
RAMMap -> Empty -> Empty standby list

I have already done the whole procedure, now I guess I need to wait for it to index all the volumes again, they are 3 network volumes + 2 USB volumes + the Google Drive volume.

Everything should not be reindexing ...

Everything doesn't create any processes directly.

It's probably a icon/thumbnail/preview/context-menu shell extension creating the process.
or, it could be code injection into Everything..

What do you mean by the service is not working?

Does the service run?
Does Everything detect changes?
What is the service status under Help -> Troubleshooting information?

There was no changes to the Everything Service in 1384 - 1391.

What search are you trying?

Please remove any NTFS volumes from your folder indexes:

In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Folders tab.
Select any NTFS volumes and click Remove.
Click OK.

Two options:

Tools -> Options -> Keyboard -> File | Copy Column Value

Use Left + Right arrow key to focus the custom column cell.

Create a bookmark with the following search:
/copy $column1:

There's currently no option to find exactly n duplicates.

I should rename this to dupecount:

Everything is using the wrong part id for the tab item.

Everything is currently using TABP_TABITEM which does not have a left border.
The next update will use TABP_TOPTABITEMLEFTEDGE which includes the left border.

While Everything 1.5 does monitor changes to hard links, it does not detect hard link deletions.
This is a limitation with the USN Journal and Everything.

This is by design.

The close buttons are hidden when the tab control overflows.

Use a smaller value for your tabs_min_wide and tabs_overflow_wide.
