Indexing size, dates and attributes

Post by void »

In the Everything 1.3 or earlier, extra file information, such as size, dates and attributes are not indexed.
This file information is gathered when displayed in Everything.
Searching or sorting by this file information can be quite slow for many results.

In Everything 1.4 or later, you can enable Everything to include size, date and attribute information in the index.
This extra file information can be quickly read from the master file table when the initial index is created.
Everything will maintain this extra file information in real-time.

Everything can quickly search and sort by this extra file information that is included in the index.

To include extra file information in the Everything index:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options
  • Click the Indexes tab.
  • Check the desired options:
    • Index file size
    • Index folder size
    • Index date created
    • Index date modified
    • Index date accessed
    • Index attributes
  • Click OK.
Note: Including extra file information in the index will require more memory usage.
Hover over an extra file information option to see a tooltip showing the extra memory requirements.

Everything 1.4 or later will index file size and date modified information by default.
