Searchfield: Last search problem

Post by nice_guy »

Example

Step1:
Searchfield: type in WINTER

Step2:
Closing Everything
Starting Everything

Step3:
Searchfield: shows WINTER

Step4:
Searchfield: type in Summer

Step5:
Closing Everything
Starting Everything

Step6:
Searchfield: shows WINTER not SUMMER

and so on.

Everything 1.4 does not show the last phrase before closing, it shows always WINTER
(Everything 1.3 does not make this fault)

Setting is:
Options-Home: search = use last value

Is "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything" enabled from Tools -> Options -> General?

Are other settings saved, eg: match case from the Search menu?

No, I want to store the settings in same location as everything.exe
void wrote:Are other settings saved, eg: match case from the Search menu?
The first three boxes are enabled

Addition:
If VIEW-FILTERS is enabled, Everything shows always the first filter after restart, not the last used one.

Addition after some experiments:
Both Bugs are not in 1.4.0.713b
Both Bugs are in 1.4.1.724b
Both Bugs are in 1.4.1.730b
Both Bugs are in 1.4.1.731b

Thanks for the bug reports.

I'm having trouble reproducing the same issue here, could you please send me your Everything.ini?

It sounds like Everything is having trouble saving its settings to disk.
No, I want to store the settings in same location as everything.exe
Does Everything have write permission to this location?

When you say close Everything, do you mean just close the search window so Everything is still running in the background?
or completely exit Everything?

Done

But the Bugs are not when I use 1.4.0.713b

Yes. Please notice: The problem cannot be on my side because 1.4.0.713b does function without these both problems. But the others not.

Complete exit, no running in background enabled.

Complete exit, no running in background enabled.
Disabling run in background was the culprit. When you close a window, Everything quits before it has a chance to save the current window/search settings.

Everything 1.4.1.734b should fix the issue:

Thank you. Your "speed" to solve this problem is much faster than Usain Bolt runs the 100m. Respect!
