Everything search box in Office dialog-box please...

Post by eswul62 »

As from Office 2016 Microsoft dropped the option to 'pin' folders as 'favorites' in the File Open/Save dialogbox.

There is a lot of commotion about that on Internet.
Users fail to understand why Microsoft dropped it: it was a handy way to jump to specific folders and or files.
As always Microsoft has not explained why they removed this feature.
There is no way to get this back (like with patches, registry settings, or with whatever tricks) and users can only
hope Microsoft will re-establish this feature.

It would be nice if Everything would offer a kind of search box at the bottom of the dialog box.
Users then to enter partial name there, Everything to search for specific extensions only (.xls/.xlsx)
and show them, incl. date-time stamp.

I know, one can do a search in Everything itself, select the office document and launch it from there,
but it would be easier when this option was added/attached to the dialog-box.

Crossing my fingers that this feature request will get some extra 'support' here so David may put it a little bit higher in his priority wishlist... ;)

Partly.. it doesn't show date-time stamp: if you have a lot of files that are reading roughly the same, then you may not always be sure which one to use.
Then only way is then to check date-time stamp.
