Everythings appears to not to work properly on the exFAT 8TB drive

Everythings appears to not to work properly on the exFAT 8TB WD MyBook. It takes some hours (so I cannot use it for that drive), 3 or 4 or so, to index the files (1,75 Mio.). And obviously some files always are missing in the index.

Is there anything one could do to make Everything faster and indexing all of the files without missing ones?

To back up the data and restore would last 4, 5 days, 24/7, I guess. Converting to NTFS means all of the data on the drive will be deleted? Is there any drawback of using NTFS (I do not need the drive for Mac, I never use Mac). How long does converting last?

I recommend backing up anything important before converting. A power failure during conversion would be bad.

You will also need a lot of free space for the conversion.

Note: convert only works for FAT and FAT32 volumes.

There is 665 GB free space on that drive? Is it enough?

So I could imagine converting will take as long as it does to copy the same data being on the drive to another drive. That would mean it would last 2, 3 days (withoug veryfying).

Thank you for the link. So, I assume, the information (16 years old, that's quite...unbelievable old) on that page refere to exFAT as well although not being mentioned there.

Er...hmmm...sorry, I really do hope so, I didn't know until now that it is possible at all, but if you say - and you do so - it works it will work I think.

exFAT is different from FAT/FAT32.

The "convert" program does not support exFAT.

You will need to completely reformat exFAT to NTFS. This will wipe all data on the volume.
