new files not found?

Hi,

Installed 1.2.1.371 over the previous beta version a few days ago.

It seems like it does not see new files until I reboot, so if I save a spreadsheet under a different name and then try to find it with everything minutes or hours later, everything does not find it.

I am running xp sp3. I am not excluding any file types or folders.

I have had the same thing from time to time.

Try hitting F5 to refresh the index. If that doesn't bring it up then terminate everything (right click on the everything icon in the systray and exit) and start it again.

Fantastic program. I am SO spoiled when I have to search a network drive......

Check the volume for errors.

Are any errors reported to the Errorlog.txt file in your "Everything" installation folder?

Does "Everything" find the parent folders of these missing files?

Everything can find the parent folder.

How should I check my drive for errors? Disk management reports "healthy."

The problem occurs when the database is re-indexed, but there was still unprocessed updates, when the updates are processed the handles are invalid causing the monitoring to stop.
You will need to restart "Everything" to fix the problem.
This problem has been fixed for the next release of "Everything".

• In My computer, for each NTFS volume:
• Right click the volume.
• Select Properties.
• Click the Tools tab.
• Click Check Now...
• Select Automatically fix file system errors.
• Click Start.
• Repeat for each NTFS volume.
