Everything on drive D: including hidden desktop group

After a power glitch during a clone backup I had significant damage to the HD's running at the time.
One is just gone to reformat . But a main storage HD has some folders and shortcuts stored on the Desktop.
I did learn how to use the path to the desktop in DOS. I need a tool like Everything which I can search by file names and shortcuts (.lnk files) , and extensions as well. It has performed for me well up to this hardware problem.

How do I use Everything for Drive D: for more than a simple Explorer search will provide?

Everything has quite a few powerful search possibilities (see here(

For example:
ext:lnk;txt to find files with extension lnk OR txt
folder: to find only folders
\desktop\ to find files and folders in a folder named Desktop

So what is the exact command for the Everything search bar for Drive D: (E: or wherever the second HD is)?

Search bar > D:\desktop\

The normal CMD in DOS looks like D:\users\myname\desktop [CR]

no other method. And I'll look at your link for the command list.

There is one folder I am getting an access denied message in Everything.
When Everything setup runs, I ticked on Run as Adminstrator. What other lockout or access denied things can be going on?
I will check the Folders starus on Hidden Files....

That shows Show Hidden Files is selected.

Full disclosure is I had a power out and the Drive will not boot when installed as C. It gets as far as run Windows file
and quits at preparing desktop. That's my problem though. What about the permissions/access denied? Does Everything
have any workarounds for that? Or Run as Administrator selected some other place? This is for home use and my user name and adminstrator are the same.

I am back to provide the solution I've found for others who may have a similar problem.

What I did was to first change UAC user accounts control setting from the default slider down to
zero. Then I renamed the problem folder just to a test name and sent Everything to open it.

This was on a damaged disk that wouldn't boot. I'm retreiving files and folders needed off of that as the D: drive.

UAC was a simple fix but I'm going to go over all my user control settings as administrater which is just for my homenet workgroup.
