Searching network drives

If i set Everything to search a network drive (browse to the network drive folder, etc), I never get results -- always 0 objects

Is there a secret to searching a network drive? Works fine on the actual computer.

Please add your network drive to your Everything index:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click Folders on the left.
• Click Add....
• Select your network drive and click OK.
• Click OK.

Note: If you run Everything as an administrator, you will be unable to see your network drives.

Please try running Everything as a standard user:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click General on the left.
• Check Everything service.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Click OK.
• Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
• Restart Everything.

To search for files on your network drive:

• In Everything, make sure the network drive is included in your index (see above).
• Search for the mapped network drive letter followed by a colon (:). For example, to find files on your mapped network drive D:, search for:

So, it has to be a mapped drive and not just a UNC version of the folder?

UNC is fine.

Well, I did that. Took a long time (I guess it wanted to index that drive -- which is huge).

But now it doesn't work on my computer. That is Everything doesn't work -- it happens to be the same folder name as on the other computer.

I removed that folder from the folder list (because I might just as well use everything on that computer) but it is still not working.

advanced search - looking for names that should produce a gazillion only shows 1 or 2. I will try just a reinstall. then a remove and reinstall.

Very odd. Not sure if to report this as a bug?

UPDATE: Removing (uninstalling), Rebooting, re-installing

seems to have fixed the problem.
