Please try Process Explorer.

After Everything has crashed, in Process Explorer, right click your Everything.exe and click Create Dump -> Create mini dump.

Could you please send the mini dump?

Please try the latest nightly build and disable icon shell extensions:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /icon_shell_extensions=0
  • Restart Everything: type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /restart

(And if you can't send it [at 500 MB, not likely ;-)], host it somewhere & send a link.)

Thanks for the crash dump.

The crash dump shows Everything crashing when attempting to remove a file or folder from the index.

This may indicate a corrupt database.

Could you please try the following:
  • Completely exit Everything (right click the Everything system tray icon and click Exit)
  • In Windows Explorer, type in the following address:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything
  • Delete your Everything.db
  • Restart Everything
-This will force Everything to rebuild a fresh index.
  • Please let me know if the crash persists.

Thanks for the crash dump.

The crash dump shows the same crash as before (removing a file / folder from the index)

This might be related to a duplicate file issue.

Could you please try the latest nightly build and let me know if the issue persists.
  • The latest nightly builds prevent duplicated files in network shares that can cause this issue.
  • Please exit the current running Everything version (right click the Everything system tray icon and click Exit)
  • Please delete your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything\Everything.db
  • Install the latest nightly build.
  • Please let me know if the issue persists.

If you are running Everything without the Everything Service:
  • Completely exit Everything (right click the Everything system tray icon and click Exit)
  • delete your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything\Everything.db
  • Replace your Everything.exe with the latest nightly build.
