Chrome browser opening by itself...why?

In the past couple of days Google Chrome has started opening by itself every so often.

I don't really use Chrome so I've just zipped up the files but I would like to know what's causing this.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Check the parent process with Process Explorer.

I've got process explorer...will that tell me what's opening it such as a scheduled task or, I hope not, some kind of remote execution?

Does it just open?
Or does it also load any particular page?

Was it your default browser?
Might Chrome have been set as the default "application" for particular file types that you may be accessing?

If neither of those, I'd think it very odd for it to open on its own.
