Version 1.5.0.1285a (x64) knocked one of my Network Drives OFF_LINE_!

Post by Flourgrader »

Hi All,
I just wanted to share this Info with you:
I just update my Everything to Version 1.5.0.1285a (x64)
Please Note: This version will re-Index your files!
I have 2 drives Mapped to Windows network,
both are Working OK.
After doing the update O:\ drive Mapped to the network did not function in Everything despite the fact, I could see it still listed in the Index>Network Drives. If I clicked on rescan nothing happened. To test to see if the rescan was working OK I clicked on the other drive mapped to the network N:\ drive. This worked just fine. I tried rebooting the PC , that made no difference.
So, I turned OFF Automatically include new mapped network drive.
I added the Mapped Network Drives to the Index>Folders.
And both of them worked fine?
So, I am happy with that!

Thank you for the bug report Flourgrader,

I have not been able to produce the issue on my end.

This might occur if you run Everything as an administrator.

Please make sure Everything is running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

For the best experience, I recommend manually including your network drives:
(a temporary network issue will remove your network drive from your index)
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Network Drives tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Automatically include new mapped network drives.
  • Uncheck Automatically remove offline mapped network drives.
  • For each network drive:
    • Check or uncheck Include in database.
  • Click OK.
(If you include your network drives under Tools -> Options -> Network drives, please make sure to also remove them from Tools -> Options -> Folders)

Please uncheck fast rescan for your network drives:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Network Drives tab on the left.
  • For each network drive:
    • Uncheck Fast rescan.
(network drives that are not on NTFS volumes will not rescan correctly.)
  • Click OK.
