Will not index d:

Post by rightnyer »

I have two hard drives, a Raid 0 array as c: and a 2 TB data drive as d:. No matter what I do, it simply will not search d:. When I delete the database file and close Everything, and then restart it, it says "Indexing d:" but then once the software loads, only files from c: are in it. I am running 1.2.1.451a. Anyone have any ideas?

D: formatted NTFS?
You haven't excluded D: in options?

Also do not get anything from D:\ to show up. C:\ is fine, E:\, G:\, ... but not E:\?!?

Deleted .db as well. Did work well before. Now installed SSD as C:\ and D:\ is a RAID-1 thing but E:\ is RAID-1 too and it works there. Also did error checking on D:\ (no errors found).

Of course it is not included in exclude list. And it shows up in local drives to index.

Any advice what can cause this? Ideas to get it to work (again)?

Thanks!

From a command prompt, please run:

Code: Select all

fsutil fsinfo volumeinfo D:

Code: Select all

fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo D:
What is the output from both these commands?

Also strange is that I autostart Everything.exe (and I see it in the tray) but I also have a shortcut to launch Everything.exe. When I do this on the PC I am having troubles with D:\ it always starts to buid the index new - which it does not on the other PCs I have Everything installed.

Why is this, how to avoid, and has this something to do with my D:\ problem?

I know my problems on this PC must have something to do with that machine (although it is a clean W7 64bit installation like on the others) as Everything runs just fine on the other ones.

So I appreciate your support from your side even more, thanks a lot!

The output looks normal, is there any errors reported in your Errorlog.txt file in your "Everything" installation folder?

Try rebuilding the USN Journal for the D: drive..
To rebuild the USN Journal:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Volumes tab.
  • Select the D: volume.
  • Uncheck Enable USN Journal.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart your computer.
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Volumes tab.
  • Select the D: volume.
  • Check Enable USN Journal.
  • Set the Maximum Allocation size to 32768 KB.
  • Set the Allocation Delta size to 8192 KB.
  • Click OK.

I am also having the same issue. Whatever I do,it couldn't not searching my 1TB disk, F:
Removing the installed "Everything" and downloading the portable version is the only solution I get so far.
