downloads window opens automatically after every download

The display the progress window on the top menu bar opens every download made. This is quite irritating and it only started recently. It requires going up and closing it each time.

Everything doesn't have a downloads window.
Everything doesn't download files.

Could you please send a screenshot.


Please make sure Everything is installed correctly:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
• Click OK.
• Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
• Restart Everything.

The paths in your index might be corrupt, please try forcing a rebuild:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Indexes tab on the left.
• Click Force Rebuild.
• Click OK.

What's described is a recent change to firefox's default settings. It may be a file is being launched and opening in firefox?

If you are having trouble downloading Everything, please try the msi installer.

To manually install Everything with the portable version:

• Download the portable version of Everything.
• Extract Everything.exe to your Desktop.
• In Windows Explorer, navigate to:
  C:\Program Files
• Create a New folder called: Everything
• Move Everything.exe from your desktop to C:\Program Files\Everything.
• Run Everything.exe
• Accept the prompt to install the Everything Service.
• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Click OK.

And why do you complain in the Everything forum ?
Change your settings in Firefox and there is no automatic open after a download.
