Some folders no being indexed

Post by lin-ycv »

I've noticed that sometimes i can't find the files that I want, even tho I've indexed all my drives and included them in the database, I've also done a force rebuild without seeing any difference.

In the screenshot, you see that I have the file called "Robots.gha" in the folder "C:\Users\Lin\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\packages\7.0\Robots\1.1.9"
But in Everything it cannot find that file, even tho I've included the C drive for index

Is there some settings I need to change?

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure these files are not excluded:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Exclude tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Exclude hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck Exclude system files and folders.
  • Uncheck Enable exclude list.
  • Click OK.
Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Please try forcing a rebuild: (-I see you have done this already, this step might be useful for others)
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
Please check your drive for errors:
  • Please backup anything important on your drive before checking it for errors.
  • In Windows Explorer, right click your drive and click Properties.
  • Click the Tools tab.
  • Click Check now...
  • Click Start
  • If prompted to schedule a scan on the next restart, click Yes.
"C:\Users\Lin\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\packages\7.0\Robots\1.1.9"
Is there a folder junction in there somewhere?
Everything does not follow folder junctions in NTFS indexes.
Please check in Windows Explorer, the folder will appear with a shortcut icon overlay.

To add a folder junction to your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your folder junction and click OK.
  • Click OK.
Please let me know if the issue persists.
