Diacritics: When an I is not an I


with Match Diacritics disabled
should 'dia' find 'D¡a¡cr¡t¡cs' ?
should 'i' find '¡' ?

or is ¡ not an i, simply "something" that looks like an eye, aye, to you & me


(In Windows itself, the "¡" looks far more like an i then it does here on the board, where you can actually see it as a descender.)

¡ has special meaning in Spanish.

¡ shouldn't be treated as i
(even though they look similar to you and me.)
