Result List, bold and grayed items?

Post by Michi »

Hi!

I wonder why the result list below has this alternating colors, see green rectangle and red rectangle in screenshot.

Image

Strange is, I've two installations of version 1.5.0.1317a (x64) and did not configured anything that might influence this look, however, one installation shows a "normal" colorized result list and the other one like in the screenshot above.

Did I miss an option?

The B: drive is offline.

To disable the offline transparency:
  • Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
    /offline_alpha=255
  • Press ENTER in your Everything search box.
  • If successful, offline_alpha=255 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

Thanks for this really fast reply (as always ;-)!

The B drive is not really offline. It is a drive mapping to a MS Sharepoint folder and looks like this:
\\internal.domain.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\ZI\Wiki

Basically this drive is reachable at any time, but I admit it's not a standard mapping.

Anyway, your purposed solutions works ;-)
Maybe adding this to options - fonts and colors, as an additional item state entry?

I will consider a customizable color state.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The best option here would be for Everything to not monitor this folder.

I wonder why Everything is seeing this folder as offline..
Could you please send some debug output?
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, under the Debug menu, click Start Debug logging.
  • Wait 1 minute.
--Everything will re-attempt to monitor your folder mapping during this time--
  • from the Tools menu, under the Debug menu, click Stop Debug logging.
--This will open your Everything Debug Log.txt
  • Could you please send this file to support@voidtools.com
  • I can make Everything not monitor these folder mappings by default..

NOOO, 'cause I would not find some important documents that are located solely on this share and nowhere else :o

Thank you for the debug logs.
ReadDirectoryChangesW FAIL B: 1
This is what I was hoping to see in the log.
The MS Sharepoint folder does not support monitoring. (Error 1)

I will update Everything in the next version to ignore the online status if monitoring is not supported.
I'll make a post here once this is ready for testing.

I mean, you'll still be able to index this folder fine, you'll just be unable to see real-time changes.
You will need to rely on the daily rescan.

Everything 1.5.0.1319a will no longer treat volumes that do not support monitoring as offline.

Thanks, just checked and it works as described.

I've set /offline_alpha=128 in my case and the list of affected drives behave like normal ones.
