Preview area and thumbnail suggestion

Post by Ismale.d »

Hi!

First of all thanks for this awesome tools, and think everything has the potential to even substitute window explorer, and that's what I do something.
2ndly I have many suggestions I want to provide, I wonder if it is best I put them all in 1 topic or separately?

Anyway, for preview suggestion:
1, allow scroll to zoom function be available in the preview area.
2, allow preview area set to left side (or just allow it to be open in a separate window), this allow user with multiple monitor to have list in one and preview in another.

for thumbnail:
1, allow bigger thumbnail and the option to scroll to resize.

Again thank you, and I hope this can be implemented soon, I wouldn't mind to even pay for it!

This depends on the preview provider and is already available for some formats.
For PDFs I have PDF-XChange installed and it provides Scroll to zoom by using the Ctrl-Mouswheel

The content of the preview pane is managed by Windows. The exception are images; Everything handles those by itself.
AFAIK, there is no zoom in/out available for pictures this way.

However ..
It is possible to let Windows handle the preview of images too. THis require a preview handler for these type of images to be installed. The quickest way to test if this is the case, see if File Explorer can preview the image. If so, you're good.If not: install or configure a preview handler. @horst.epp can tell you all you need to know (I'm not the specialist he is and also: can't test atm.)

After the preview handler is installed:
  • Type or paste the following in the searchbar and press ENTER

    Code: Select all

    /show_preview_handlers_in_preview_pane=1
(You might need to restart Everything)

To revert back to the original default setting:
/show_preview_handlers_in_preview_pane=0

Allow system preview handlers in the preview pane. Everything has a built in preview handler for images.

Set to 0 to use the system setting. Set to 1 to allow. Set to 2 to disallow. The system setting can be changed from Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View -> Show preview handlers in preview pane.

The Explorer can preview images bit dosn't zoom by any means.
Using the Explorer preview handlers in Files managers like Total Commander or XYplorer allows to zoom.
Many other Explorer preview handlers can zoom, so images are the bad exception.
