failed to load created database: Database is out of date

Post by Jackie78 »

Hi,

I keep getting this error message in the status bar of Everything since some days:

failed to load created database: Database is out of date

What's wrong, and how can this be fixed?

Please check all your NTFS volumes for errors.

To check your NTFS volumes for errors:
  • Open My Computer.
  • For each NTFS volume:
    • Right click.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the Tools tab.
    • Click Check Now....
    • Check Automatically fix file system errors.
    • Click Start.

How about a solution that does NOT involve a reboot and waiting all fragging night for chkdsk to run?

So as it happens, the correct solution, for future reference is:

1. Kill the Everything process with Task Manager or Process Explorer
2. Navigate to the Everything program folder and delete Everything.db
3. Restart Everything. It will rebuild a functional Everything.db, which is where the actual problem is.
