Column width has no minimal value / fail-safe point

I would like to point out, that user can grab the right edge of a column header and drag it all the way to the left side - to the point of making the entire column disappear - which in turn can lead to confusion, as user will see such column with a tick sign next to it on the list of available columns [in the right-click menu] but not seeing it in the main window [until user goes to Organize Columns and clicks the Reset button]

This should be averted by adding a rule of column being unable to be narrowed down to a certain value [10 pixels?] and / or making it automatically reset itself to a default width if user reaches the left edge [i.e. 0 pixels point]

... but better yet

IF the user heads below the thresh-hold, confirm that the user knows what they are doing before assigning the thresh-hold value or overriding the thresh-hold value.

We know that the user is awake because they are dragging the mouse, right?
This could be another candidate for 1.6?

What if a user has a Parkinson's disease?

Should such user refrain from trying to adjust columns with always narrow data to gain horizontal space for other columns with always wide data?

Thy Grand Voidinesss, we might also consider older people (ahem!) and those whose laptop pointer-pad is playing up, so that one is forced to use the keyboard.

Back in The Good Old Days of Windows 3.1, three of the many axioms of training were:-

There Are At Least Four Ways of Doing it
Anything you can do with the mouse you can do with the keyboard, and
Anything you can do with the keyboard you can do with the mouse

The Adult Education classes were conducted one night (surprise!) with all the mice removed, but a promise that next week the mice would be restored (relief!)
The next week I arrived early, as usual, and removed all the keyboards.

A good test of any application (or web page for that matter, especially online banking sites) is to continue working for just thirty minutes without using the mouse, then another thirty minutes without the keyboard.

And by "without the keyboard" I mean, of course, no typing with the fingers on the on-screen keyboard!
