extra large thumbnails but only for specified file extensions?

Post by lpslp2 »

hi
Thanks again for a great program!
is there such a function - specify for which file types to create preview in "extra large thumbnails" mode?
for example - I would like to create previews only for JPG and PNG files.

and second as a:
suggestion - you show 1-folder front 2-folder back +and only 2 previews - it is few here picture
Image
i show side by side how show your program preview and other program - same folder, in both cases we see that "this is a folder" but in second case - amount of data which we can se from folder is much more...in Everything we can, if it is not possible to show such large folders, you can show them to the small icon - then it is important to show more ELEMENTS from them

Thank you for your feedback lpslp2,

Everything 1.5 will have a thumbnail and preview filename filter.

To set which files extensions to allow when loading thumbnails:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    thumbnail
  • Select thumbnail_include_only_files.
  • Set the value to: *.jpg;*.png
  • Click OK.

You must have made something wrong
The setting thumbnail_include_only_files to restrict thumbnails to certain extensions
are working fine here under version 1349a

  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    thumbnail
  • Select thumbnail_include_only_files.

    -please make sure there's no spaces here -it looks like a space before the * -and please remove the trailing ;
  • Click OK.

Unfortunately, Everything cannot do that.

Everything uses the system to create a thumbnail for your folders.
The system will make the thumbnail based of any files in your folder.
I don't know of a way to control this.
You'll see the same thumbnails in Everything as you see in Windows Explorer.
Maybe there's a third party thumbnail handler for folders that does what you want?

and what this i do not know
Your file filter looks like:

Code: Select all

*.jpg; *.png;
It should look like:

Code: Select all

*.jpg;*.png

Weird
Well, look - you still "look" into the folders to make a preview for the pictures(Why can't "we" just sort files and show preview on folders only those files with the specified extensions? After all, "we" have already looked in each folder to make a preview for files in it). What is worth reading the file extensions and, apart from pictures - for nothing else - NOT doing a preview?
Maybe there's a third party thumbnail handler for folders that does what you want?
there is and it's called xnview mp (in my first post - the example on the right is from xnview mp) that's just it - it can NOT make a search as cool as your program!
