not finding all" I created multiple documents with the word "storage" in it, yet Everything doesn't find everything

This has happened repeatedly, but I just ran into it again.

Everything doesn't seem to find everything reliably at times. Sometimes it's perfect. Other times, there are results that are missing. Just happened again with a newly created document. So much better than the search apps in Windows since Win XP, but this is frustrating.

Any suggestions?

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure you are not excluded any files or folders under Tools -> Options -> Exclude.



Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
• Click OK.
• Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
• Restart Everything.

Please try forcing a rebuild:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Indexes tab on the left.
• Click Force Rebuild.
• Click OK.

Please let me know if the issue persists.

I am having the same issue. It never existed in the past, but now I am adding a lot of files that are not being found. I have checked all of the suggested possible remedies, but nothing helps.

Please check your drive for errors:

• Please backup anything important on your drive before checking it for errors.
• In Windows Explorer, right click your drive and click Properties.
• Click the Tools tab.
• Click Check now...
• Click Start
• If prompted to schedule a scan on the next restart, click Yes.

Thanks for the reply... I discovered that I had inadvertently turned on a filter, and was only seeing "executable" files. Not sure how this happened. I didn't find any indication that this was the case (and didn't notice that was what was being displayed) until I checked "filters" in the "View" menu, then it popped up on the upper right corner of the screen.
