Filter feature adjustments

Here are my kind suggestions in regards to Filters:


1] Indicate multiple Filters being selected on the Filter Bar drop-down list

Currently it is possible to go to Search menu and while holding down CTRL key when left-clicking in order to turn on more than one Filter at the same time - and then see the

Unfortunately there is not any indication when user clicks the Filter Bar and sees the list of available Filters


2] Make it possible to select multiple Filters also from within the Filter Bar drop-down list

Holding down CTRL would be logical. [Although I reckon that drop-down lists in Window are written, thus behave, differently than menus]


3] Create separate Filters menu

Although using Filters is a process of searching, but it is significantly different than just pressing CTRL+F in almost any other program

And if user has many defined Filters then the list can exceed the vertical space of a single screen, thus forcing user to use scrolling within Search to access the bottom ones. If Filters will have their own main menu entry then there will be 11 more entries [plus room for one Separator] available just for the whole Filter feature before running out of space to show user added ones Filters

And most of all: Bookmarks have their own entry in the Menu Bar, so why not also separate the Filters?

Everything is currently using the stock Windows combobox for the filterbar.

This combobox is rather limited to a single selection.

Supporting multiple selections from the filterbar is on my TODO list.



I have noticed a few issues with the selecting multiple filters.
Ctrl + clicking a filter from the filterbar used to work, this is currently broken.
Ctrl + clicking a filter from the Search menu doesn't work if the filter sidebar is shown.

These issues will be fixed in the next alpha update.

3] Create separate Filters menu

I will consider a separate Filter menu.
I only intended for Everything to have a few filters.

4] Make the Search Filter accessible through Menu Bar

Currently there is no

Search > Search Filter

entry - which in the future could be duplicated or just replaced with

Filters > Search Filter

or replaced with

Filters > Find Filter

as "find" is more informative / similar to overall Find feature for items

Everything 1.5.0.1352a will trial an Activate Filter menu item and a Open Bookmark menu item.

Everything 1.5.0.1352a also fixes an issue with Ctrl + clicking to select multiple filters from the filter bar and filter sidebar.

But what is the supposed difference between using these 2 new options and just picking also predefined Filter or Bookmark from the lists already existing in Search and Bookmarks of the main menu?

Yes, it is possible now to add to selection and remove from it with held down Control

However if user does not have [the list of] Filters turned on, then user does not see what Filters are picked, like when going to Search in main menu - but then again this comes down to
