If "" Exact search phrase is supposed to return a complete word like Ctrl + B would ,it does not. In fact words abc and "abc" return the same number of objects.
Ctrl+B or for that matter any toggle does not get annulled on pressing the close "x". Can Everything display the toggle states in the status bar a little bolder (what happens if the user does not opt for a status bar), put a message "Filtered" in the title bar for that are in a state of toggle.
A filter overriding masterkey which annulls earlier toggle states as an alternative to clicking them individually in the status bar.

They do not search for whole words*
Use the search modifier wfn: or wholefilename: for exact phrases.
Use the search modifier ww: or wholeword: for word matching (or enable match whole word from the search menu).

It's not really an exact phrase either, as it could appear between other text.
I will review the help text.
