User directory not included in index

Post by brian5 »

Running 1.5.0.1356a. Not sure if this a bug or if I'm missing something.

Problem is that my C: drive is indexed but C:\Users\brian (and all folders under that) are not included in that index. That directory (or parent folder) is not in my Exclusion list.

If I go to Options>Folders and include C:\Users\brian, I get "Add NTFS folder? This folder is already indexed under the NTFS tab." I respond "Yes" and save it. Then that folder (and sub folders) is included in the index.

Thanks . . . . Brian

Please try removing C:\Users\Brian from Tools -> Options -> Folders.

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Please try forcing a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
Does the issue persist?

Thanks for your prompt response!

I just started following your steps and it resolved itself.

1. I removed C:\Users\Brian form Tools>Options>Folders.
2. I removed the two folders in "Exclude folders". (C:\opt\HT... and C:\opt\Revo...)

Then the C:\Users\Brian items appeared in the search. So all good. :D

(I hadn't wanted to do much troubleshooting as I wondered whether you would more info about the current state of my PC.)

Thanks again.
