Make the update of the database optional at the start of Everything
viewtopic.php?t=9105
I just added a couple of 18TB HDDs and moved massive amounts of files. (I do turn off everything in the process)
Then everything just gets stuck in the [updating database] forever.
I even left it up all night and then in the morning it said no response & die.
I have to use task manager to terminate it.
As long as it says [updating database] and you touch any settings it basically just freeze & die.
win+R
"C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe" -monitor-pause
Uncheck all quick sort and force rebuild.
It finishes it in less than a minute.

Moved from Everything keeps on showing "Updating database..." after starting it, nothing else seems to happen
Thank you for your feedback.
Renaming folders is expensive in Everything 1.4.
It can take a long time to process many changes to your file systems with Everything 1.4.
Everything 1.5 will allow you to search while updating.
Everything 1.5 is also way more efficient at updating your indexes. (for example: updating renamed folders)
