[BUG] Double-clicking in path column has inconsistent results

Post by vertigo »

With the latest version (1.5.0.1376a x64), when I do a search and double-click on the results in the Path column, it sometimes opens the path in File Explorer and it sometimes opens the file, as if I'd double-clicked on the item in the Name column. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when it does what. I've tried files on different drives, files in the drive root versus one or two or three directories down, and it seems totally random, though I think it's consistent for each item. It did this with the previous version I was using (1367), which was the first one I'd tried of 1.5a, so it's not a new issue. I can't recall every experiencing it with 1.4, though, so it does seem to be specific to 1.5.

Double click on the path text to open the path.
Otherwise, Everything will open the item.

To always open the path anywhere in the path column:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    path
  • Select: path_hit_text_only
  • Set the value to: false
  • Click OK.

Interesting. I wonder if that should be defaulted to false, as the default behavior seems very odd to me. Anyways, thanks for the quick response!
