How do I remove the zoom icon in the search field?

I could not find an INI setting for it. I am on the latest alpha.

I will add an option to hide this icon.

You can hide the search icon by disabling the 'search close button':

• In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the Advanced tab on the left.
• To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
  close
• Select: search_close_button
• Set the value to: false
• Click OK.
  (close the window and reopen the window to apply this setting)

Oh.
(Much bigger in the OP's screenshot, so I was looking for something rather obvious.)

And what does it do?
Simply display a "search icon" (which does nothing in & of itself)?

In my opinion, the icon only indicates that it is the search field -> tooltip "Search",
because when a search query has been entered, the magnifying glass symbol changes to a cross "x" with the tooltip "Clear".

Oh that is what is for? I understand now, Also I misjudged it, its not a "zoom" icon but a search icon
