Screen Layout showing Drives in the left hand column by Default_?

Post by Flourgrader »

Hi Guys,
When I start Everything Version 1.5.0.1238a (x64)
I would like the screen layout showing all my drives in the left
hand column as seen in the screenshot photo (My_View.jpg)
When I do start Everything Version 1.5.0.1238a (x64)
I see it like this as in screenshot (Search.jpg)
To get it to how I like to view it and use it I have to go on the drop-down menu
View >Toggle the option Folders (WIP) from ON to OFF to ON again and then I have it how I like it.
I have to do this every time I start my PC or completely shut down Everything!
Not really sure why this sorts my view out?
Can I edit an *.ini file or some other file to maintain the view I would like to keep by default.
Thanks.

The folder sidebar is in development.

The visibility of this sidebar is currently not remembered. (it's on my TODO list)

For now, to always show the folder sidebar:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    about:config
  • Change the following line:
    treeview_visible=0
    to:
    treeview_visible=1
  • Save changes and exit notepad.
  • Accept the prompt in Everything to reload your config.

Remembering the visibility of the folder sidebar is currently not supported.
Currently, the folder sidebar must be toggled from the View menu. Otherwise, the folders are not loaded.
I'll address this in an alpha update soon.

OK thank you for the explanation.
I do understand.
Treeview_visable=1 was set to 1
Thanks.

Hi,

When switching off the tree view, the marker currently remains on the last selected folder.

In practice, this means the following:
Only subfolders/files from the last selected folder are displayed, although filter "Everything" is active.

My suggestion is therefore as follows:
If the tree view is switched off, then the marking in the tree view should be set back to -> Everything.

Hi,
I realise it’s on the to do list, I can wait, it’s not a big deal.
It’s, I just liked the view I had picked for my working environment.
I can sort it manually from now on.
For your information whatever I did with that setting treeview_visible_1
After rebooting PC it went back to been setting treeview_visible_1..
Thanks for looking at it.
Just out of curiosity have you any idea when you will have time to updating this version of everything?

Everything 1.5.0.1263a fixes an issue with root folders not showing in the folder sidebar.

Everything 1.5.0.1263a will now only search for selected folders in the folder sidebar when it is visible.

This is very useful.

Small problem -- once View==>Folders has been shown, "hide results when search is empty no longer works" - it suppresses the object count in the lower left but does not suppress the result list, even after View==>Folders has been closed.

Suppressing "hide results" when View==>Folders is selected makes sense (but bring back the object count) but could it be reactivated when View==>Folders is closed

I have the following suggestion:

Change from menu "View" -> "Folders (TODO)"
to "Tree (TODO)" [or "Directory tree (TODO)"].
