Everything Server and Properties Search

Hi, I have Everything Server indexing network shares and users accessing it via their computers. On the server I added some file properties like image tags, comments. It took a couple of days to index, but on the Everything client on the server it retrieves the results quickly. But searching for tags: on the client computers it takes a very long time. Granted I have not waited more than an hour, but it just says querying... 0 objects in the bottom left.

Am I missing a setup on the user's options to enable this?

I was on version 1.5.0.1312a when the indexes were created, and updated to 1.5.0.1314a today on the server and a client, but got the same results.

Currently, only filenames, size, date modified, date created and attributes are shared from the Everything Server.
Other properties are not shared, even if indexed.

A "Property Server" is planned for a future release of Everything.



For now, you will need to setup property indexing for each client.
Each client will have to gather properties from the file server via \\server\share access.
I highly recommend you only index properties for a small subset of files.

But searching for tags: on the client computers it takes a very long time.

Everything will gather properties directly from the file server for properties that are not indexed on the client side.

Hi, my folks who are using 1.5a love how fast it is. The marketing group is tagging photos to assist their team in finding photos quicker. Currently I am running Everything locally and having each of their computers scan photos and tags. I would love to have that done once on the Properties server - do you have a timeline for working on it?

Sorry, I don't have a timeline for Everything 1.6 at this stage.
