Quite often I have small everything panes, and I can't tell what their sort order is, particularly in thumb view, and it's often important. If I have gone through some items and the sort order was wrong I may not have been systematic for the items I was interested in.
I'm wondering what the solution to this is. Here are some of my thoughts -
* The advanced sort as well as offering the three sorter dropdowns could state at the top what the current sort is. Then I could find the sort by doing Ctrl-S and it would say at the sort something like "Current Sort : Name (arrow symbol)".
* The status bar formatter (statusbar_selected_item_format & statusbar_selection_format) could have a string substitutor that represents current sort, for example $o - It may be a short mnemonic is best so eg Mod with arrow up/down for Modified Date.
Either way something trivial to implement is all that would be needed, as long as there's a simple way to find the sort without having to do gymnastics.

Current Sort Indicator?
Re: Current Sort Indicator?
I will consider a $current-sort: variable for the status bar format.
