Everything running twice

Post by Micky_D »

Hi everyone.
I am currently listed as the “newest member”, but I think “not the brightest” should be the actual phrase. :(
I would like 2 applications of everything running, (Version 1.3.0.632b), one searching my music folder (229 GB) and one that searches my entire computer.
Is this possible? If so how do I arrange it? Trust me when I say I can probably handle “idiot speak” ... just.
Your help would be appreciated

You can do this with named instances.

Install Everything to two different locations.

For example:
C:\Program Files\Everything
and
C:\Program Files\Everything (Music)

Run the Everything.exe in C:\Program Files\Everything normally for all your files and folders.

Start the other Everything.exe in C:\Program Files\Everything (Music) with the following command line option:

Code: Select all

Everything.exe -instance Music
-or-

Add the following line to the end of your Everything.ini in C:\Program Files\Everything (Music):

Code: Select all

instance_name=Music

AMAZING and AMAZING :o :o
Amazing at the speed of response and amazing, in as much as, I think I understand ... (a little confused at the "command line comment, but I will get there)
All that is left is for me to create a different icon and add it to the pertinent file.
There is a comment in the forum on how to do that.
Thank you so much and thank you for the program

Absolutely brilliant.
I now have 2 incidences of everything running and ... by adding "instance_name=Music" to the .ini file when I hover over it I am told which they are. All I need to now is is to filter direct to the folder with my music in.
I cannot thank you enough.
Do I put SOLVED anywhere?
