Hi,
In my Win 7 x64 customization list for the notification area (toolbar) I have about 30 icons/programs listed.
About 20 of these are for programs I've uninstalled and have no use for on the notification toolbar or in its customization list.
I've been unable to find a way of removing them from the customization list (although it's easy enough to hide them from appearing on the toolbar).
5 icons/programs on the list are for Everything. 4 are for "Everything.exe" and 1 for just "Everything".
I suppose these are for multiple installs and uninstalls of Everything betas, although after installing Everything I always go into the Options menu and (among other things) select Not having Everything in the Notification area.
Is there some way of removing the Everything icons/programs from the customization list?
Thanks
John
Notification Area customization list
Re: Notification Area customization list
Never mind, finally found a way to clear the notification customization list:
Open regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify\
Then delete these values in right frame: IconStreams and PastIconsStream.
Then open Task manager, select explorer.exe and "End Process Tree" (black screen will appear).
Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete, select Task Manager.
Then do File > new task & type explorer.exe.
Desktop will reappear with notification area icon list reset.
You may notice icons for programs you use disappear too, but don't panic.
The next time you run that program it's icon will be put back.
