How can i search only folders and executables?

Post by shak »

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Everything but i love it. Can someone please explain me how can i make my default search to searching for Executables and Folders , and to be sorted by type? I 've tried to do it but couldn't make it.

Thanks everyone!

ext:exe
folder:

So, ext:exe | folder:

(You cannot do, ext:exe AND folder:.)

Search | Options -> Add to filter
Name: EXE or FOLDER
Search: ext:exe | folder:
OK

Tools | Options -> General => Home
Filter: EXE or FOLDER
Sort: Type Descending

---

And now you've got to decide just what you want:

Thanks for your help!

The filter you provided works great. However how can i Sort by Type to show the executables first in the RESULTS . It works fine on Home but what about in results ?

Please try using the Everything 1.4 beta and enable fast extension sort and sort by extension:
  • Grab the Everything 1.4 beta
  • In Everything 1.4, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab.
  • Check Fast extension sort.
  • Click the Home tab.
  • Change sort to Extension ascending.
  • Click OK.
Everything will now always sort by extension.

Thanks a lot !

I also added the | ext:lnk in order to search for shortcuts as well and now everything works like a charm.

This is how windows search should work. Why other applications are not free that offer similar or even less functionality? For example quickjump?
