Windows 10 Fonts

Post by oxk4r »

Everything only shows a font installed by me when I search in the Windows 10 Fonts folder. Where are the other fonts? If I enter in the folder via Windows Explorer, all are there. I tryed unchecking 'Exclude system files and folders' option and 'Exclude system files' too, but the result is the same.
Thanks in advance.

Oh, without knowing anything about "fonts", I'm going to say that C:\Windows\Fonts is a "virtual" folder, with the actual fonts residing in multiple, different winsxs directories.

(Searching: ext:ttf seems to indicate that.)

That would very well be possible ( a lot of Windows folders are like that), but in this case, it is the actual folder.
What you see in WinSxS, are the "master files" of Windows. Most Windows files are no more than hardlinks to the WinSxS versions.
That makes repairing easier and also updating (put the new file in WinSxS, delete current c:\Windows hardlink and make a link to the new version)

Now on topic:
... when I search in the Windows 10 Fonts folder
What do you think THE Windows 10 Fonts folder is?

:? I have to apologize because this was my fault: a I was running a not up to date version of the app. I grabbed the last portable and now the fonts show ok. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the help!
