Double-click renames instead of opening

Post by TRILLOGY »

When I double-click on a folder in my voidtools search results, the program thinks that I want to rename the folder. The behavior is similar to the slow double-click in Windows that does just that, highlights the folder name so I can rename.

I don't recall this happening before the last couple months. It is super-annoying to the point where I just now created this forum ID to post here. Everything else in Everything seems to work great.

I'm running Everything Version 1.4.1.969 (x64).

Do you have the preview pane open?

Some preview handlers are messing with the focus, causing the effect you are describing.
It is fixed/worked around in later versions.

Update to the current version and please report if that fixed your issue

Thank you for the quick response.

I did have the preview window checked on. I updated to Version 1.4.1.1000 (x64) and it isn't happening after a few test searches here. I will play with the Preview toggle if it happens again. I don't really need that since I mostly use Everything to find and launch my folders.

I'm also using dual monitor 27" output from a Surface Book laptop so the scaling is always fouling things up, just to throw that in there.

And FWIW I had been using the 'Check for updates' button and it was reporting that "Everything is all up to date!"

Thanks again.

There are a different 'set of rules' involved during the 'Check for updates'.
For more informatiuon on that, take a look here
