Portable without admin rights

Helo, my IT took away my admin rights and won't let me install any programs, and won't install Everything for me.
I find it extremely useful, so tried to get the portable version to work. No luck so far, it keeps asking to install the service, which I don't have the right to do. Am I doing something wrong or is it impossible to use without admin rights?

you don't need the Service, necessarily.

After that, not sure of limitations of not using it that way, but see what you can get out of it.
Maybe even if you set up Folder Indexes or something like that that you do have access to...
