Everything does not find file that is visible in Explorer

Post by Bazsl »

I searched for a file on my c: drive using the exact and complete file name and Everything did not find it. The file is visible in Explorer and does not have the Hidden attribute set. Why does this happen and how can I fix it? Thanks.

What is the file?
Where is it located?

Any filtering (Search Menu) active in Everything?

Please make sure no search options are enable under the main Search menu.
Please make sure the Everything filter is active from the main Search menu.

Please make sure this file is not excluded under Tools -> Options -> Exclude.
If you are excluding hidden folders and files, please make sure no parent folders of the file are hidden.

Please try forcing a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
