"Keep index journal entries when re-scanning" option

I've already mentioned this elsewhere, but not sure it was ever clear if it could be done in an update or if you refuse to.
I was reminded from here to ask again or maybe just for a clarification.

There are a few times when it will re-build and will undo the current index journal.
The program runs in RAM so fortunately the old index journal can be copied off, but what about keeping the journal as-is and continue using it?
Any way it can be separated within the database so a re-scan only touches the monitored locations part of it?
