Keybaord commands to open the Filter dropdown box

(1) What keyboard command can I set that will close the side panel which gets opened by the command "View | Focus Filter"?

(2) Is there a keyboard command which will display an open combo box list for filters? I can focus on the filter dropdown using the keyboard command for "View | Focus Filter Bar" but I would like to open the list and see all the entries.

Current there's no command to do this.
I'll add a keyboard command to close the focused pane/bar.
Maybe a keyboard command to toggle all the panes..

The standard key: F4 will open the drop down list.

Can one Everything keyboard command execute two commands in sequence?

For example: "View | Focus Filter Bar" followed by "F4".

First off - how good is Everything? It is the first thing I install if I am helping someone with a PC problem. It is sooooo useful in so many ways.

OK I may be dense but neither Ctrl +K nor F4 does nothing on my Everything (1.4.1.1015) and that is REALLY sad.

I am forever going to the Filter drop down (seldom the Search menu) but I can find zero shortcuts to the individual filters - docs, audio, pics etc - which I use a lot.

Also and I cannot find them in the commands that are available for keyboard shortcuts. I can make a shortcut to get the Filter dropdown to come and go - but that does NOT give focus to the dropdown.

Am I missing something or am I just stumped! (Polite UK vernacular for *****)

No, you are not! The answer was for Everything 1.5 (alpha version) and you are using version 1.4.

In Everything 1.4 options are limited, but you can:

• Type or paste the following in the Everything search bar and press ENTER:

  Code: Select all

  /filters_tab_stop=1

  Now you can use TAB to cycle through search bar, result list and Filters bar.
• Wneh focus is on the Filter bar:
  - type the first character of the filter (you might repeat this step if there are multiple filters starting with that character) OR:
  - Use the cursor keys to cycle through all filters ('ALT + DOWN' shows the entire list)

Alternative: add a keyboard shortcut to the filters you use often:

• Got to Menu: Search > Organize Filters
• Select your filter
• Press the Edit button
• Type your shortcut in the Keyboard shortcut: field
• Press OK
• Done

When you press that shortcut, the matching filter will be selected. Pressing the shortcut again, will select the default (Everything) filter.

Everything 1.5.0.1316a adds a "View | Close Pane" command.
You can bind a keyboard shortcut to this command under Tools -> Options -> Keyboard.

The default binding is Shift + ESC.
