Everything takes up as much as 1G of my computer's memory

"Everything" takes up as much as one gigabyte of my computer's memory. The software claims to only use tens of megabytes, but it has occupied more than 1GB on my computer, which is insane.

Methods I have already tried:

1. I followed the "Minimize Memory Usage" tutorial as suggested on the website, turned off all indexing options, but the memory usage is still close to one gigabyte.
2. I upgraded from version 1.4 to the 1.5 beta version, but the memory usage is still high.
How can I reduce the memory usage? Thank you very much!

How many files is Everything indexing?

(Shown in the status bar when the search is empty)

Expect 100MB RAM usage per 1million files.
I would expected Everything to be indexing around 10million files with 1G of RAM usage.



Exclude unwanted files
Optimal Settings for Everything 1.4 (lower RAM usage down to about 50MB per 1million files)

My Status bar just has "Ready" with no file count showing, probably due to setting "Hide results if the search is empty" ticked in option/results?

How do we get the number of files Everything indexing without unticking this option off?

Could the status bar still show total number of files indexed, even with the above option ticked?

Don't think this is possible currently.
However, you can press SPACE in the search bar to list all items and show the number of items in the statusbar.
