deactivate "special" search "suggestions"... (Bad title, I know...)

Post by luckulucki »

Hello,
I'm not sure, this is a 1.5 Alpha question, but I'm using it, so forgive me, if I'm at the wrong place.

As you hopefully can see in the screenshots here:

I get suggestions like "md5:" or "size:" when typing a searchterm.

I'm sure, I fiddeled around somewhere to activate this, but I'm not sure, where to DEactivate this behaviour again, because it only suggests useless things to me.

I took a look at the
Search History-1.5a.csv
but none of those suggestions are even mentioned, so ist not me, storing wrong searchterms in the EV history.

How can I deactivate such suggestions?

Thank you!

btw: there are many places in EV where the darkmode is not working correctly (light textfields or windows instead of dark ones).
Is this known and on the plate/todo-list or should I open a new thread with screenshots so you know where to "fix" the darkmode?

Tools -> Options -> History -> Always show search suggestions.

Only the main UI supports dark mode at this stage.
The Options window and dialogs will use the stock Win32 theme.

I was going to ask the very same same thing.
And I'll point out, that we're talking about (what seems to be) Property suggestions, not search suggestions in general.

(I've not flipped the option, so don't actually know how it will turn out, yet...)

what is offline-availability: ???

sometimes i'll see that come up (automatically) with search completion

(& in this case,
i've specifically filtered out a drive that i know is offline, !I:, because it is, offline ;-))

ditto ...

video-bit-rate:

oh, so it must be matching Properties
so if you type in 'full vid', it automatically tries to complete, 'full video-bit-rate:'

i suppose there's a config setting to toggle that behavior, but not sure which?

Thank you, that not did it for me.

Turned out, I like (and want) to have search suggestions,
BUT I don't like (and want not) to have this strange suggestions like "size:" or "md5:"

Here are the extractions from my search history file, for the searches in the above 2 screenshots:

Code: Select all

"BrainDead",3,133708131172997747
"Braindead (Blood Edition)",1,132945660973249913
"Love Victor mkv",1,133708130988271947
"Love Victor",2,133708130285183496
What I want:
Typing "BrainDead"
Suggestion "Braindead (Blood Edition)" popps up.

What I do not want:
Typing "BrainDead s"
Suggestion "Braindead size:" popps up.

I don't understand, why "size:" is suggested here. There is no "size:" in the history file and no result on "Braindead size:" also. Seems to me "size:" is without any relation to my system. And, IIRC, it was not suggested one or two versions before, but I'm not 70% sure.. :-D

I hope it that description was clearer now and I don't know, if this is possible.

Thank you again!

Oups, I read that too late, sorry! Thank you, therube.

Turned out, it is exact that thingy...

So the questions remains: how to deactivate it, if possible.

Thank you.

The showing of search functions was an experimental feature for 1383a.

There's no way to disable this feature in 1383a.
It will be removed in the next alpha update and available as a separate "complete word" feature.

Ok, so I did not read the changelog carefully enough, sorry!

Alright, now I know the cause and the reasoning, and that's already half the battle.

Thank you for your help!

For me, the thread is solved now.
